Day 4 – Ballalan > Gearannin

Todays riding is 85 km / 778  m elevation gain. Est riding time 4 hrs.

Definitely feeling like the roads are getting busier. Lots of trade and lorries on the road. So take it easy along here. Once you turn off onto the road to Callanish, the roads are long and easy – great touring conditions. You will zip along here and see Callanish stone circle and visitor centre which are natural stopping points. A great cafe, and milestone for the bike trip.

You can head directly North along the West coast, to Ness and the end of the Hebridean way. I stayed at Gearannin hostel, dumped my bags here – and did the last leg a lot lighter. You can stay a couple of days at Gearannin. It’s really peaceful. And yes, it has a cafe and shop, as well as self catering in a shared kitchen.
